Wellness Nurse

Ms. Hastings has been working as a nurse for 23 years. She worked in a hospital in Lynchburg, Virginia for 15 years, did home health nursing off and on for 23 years, and worked as an elementary school nurse for 4 years. Ms. Hastings also worked in health care management and clinical case management positions over the years. She and a Social Worker opened and managed an ICF/MR group home over a two year period prior to coming to TOLS.

Ms. Hastings came to us in 2008 as the “wellness” nurse. Her primary job at TOLS is to ensure the optimal health and well-being of each and every client. This is accomplished through a proactive approach to nutrition, hydration, medication management, safety related matters, illness and injury prevention, skin care, supervision and training of direct care staff, and timely attention to medical issues.

Ms. Hastings’ plan for the future is to continue her education in nursing. One principle that she lives by, in all her nursing endeavors, is to treat each client/patient the way that she would want her family member or herself to be treated.
